Alan Lightman is a professor of humanities at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In addition to publishing numerous scientific papers in physics on the nature of gravity, he has published the best selling novels Einstein’s Dreams and The Diagnosis, which was a finalist for a national book award. He recently hosted the tv series “Searching: Our Quest for Meaning in the Age of Science” which aired on PBS earlier this year.
