On Duty (Romans 15:14-22)

Listen Later

In Romans 15, the apostle Paul is beginning to close his letter to the church in Rome. To do this, he puts the church on duty, confessing to them that they are full of goodness, that they are able to teach one another these things that he has spoken of. He also admits that he wrote this letter to be a reminder of the things that they have already known that he would have taught when he was there face to face. This is a great encouragement to know that as a church, we too, can have confidence of our goodness and striving to be in relationship with God and one another. And in that striving, we are to encourage, uplift and upbuild one another. Paul also goes on to speak about his specific ministry, that is to go and preach Jesus all the way from Jerusalem to Illyricum, and that does cause us to think what is our role and our duty – our service to our Lord Jesus in His church. There is a humble place there for us to consider where we can take our stand for the Lord in His church. May this be a blessing.
