On Feeling Awkward, and what to do about it

In this episode, we look at the horrible business of feeling uncomfortable before, during and after a talk.
Some ways to deal with this include:
1. Accepting that, unless you are a psychopath, or plan to say something very dull indeed, it would be strange not to feel awkward.
2. Accepting that you are feeling awkward, and that this is not actually an impediment. (It only gets hard when you refuse to accept it.)
3. Taking your mind off yourself and devoting your attention to serving the needs of your audience.
4. Accepting interventions from the audience as positively helpful.
