Our humanity wants an eye for an eye. We look forward to seeing those who do harm receive their just due and get the harm back that they have put forth. After all isn't that what justice is all about? How can we forgive them when we are stuck with this condition?

Lewis Smedes, a great theologian is quoted as saying, “To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.” We don't realize how much we are holding ourselves hostage with a lock called unforgiveness. We can set ourselves free to live happier lives by opening that lock.
