America, 1959. With two young children she adores, loving parents back in London, and an admired husband, Charlie, working at the British embassy in Washington, the world seems an effervescent place of parties, jazz, and family happiness to Mary van der Linden. But the Eisenhower years are ending, and 1960 brings the presidential battle between two ambitious senators: John Kennedy and Richard Nixon. When an American newspaper reporter called Frank Renzo dramatically enters the van der Lindens' lives, they are forced to confront the terror of the Cold War that is the dark background of their carefree existence.

On Green D0olphin Street
What a shocker. This book had to be the most boring book I have read in years. There are so many issues Faulks could have pursued yet he left every one of the hanging. What about alcoholism, diplomacy, politics, adultery, etc. This is certainly not up to par with past endeavor. It is nothing more than a trite love story.
Early days
Still to early into the book for me to answer these questions.
Four Stars
A good read but I found it a little draggy in parts
great book
I love the way Faulks writes but my favorite will always be Birdsong. Can't wait to start a new one .
On Green Dolphin Street.
I have read Faulks triology and like this book since it was set in the 1950s when I was little.
