Following the story of a geologist who, having failed to prevent an accident many years before, is determined to take action when he believes disaster is about to strike the city of New Orleans. The Mardi Gras festival is in full swing and the scientist is convinced that the ground is about to cave in - will he act in time, or will his girlfriend's pleas for romance prevent him from saving the world?
