By kneeling, we are stating that we are of lower status than the one we kneel before and acknowledge their authority. When we kneel before God, we acknowledge that He is the Creator, the Shepherd, the Potter; we are the created, the sheep, the clay.

Kneeling, something within us gives way - both physically and spiritually, we are humbled and bowed before almighty God.
