Dr. Paul Myers is the educational lead for the Preparedness department at the National Headquarters of the American Red Cross. Paul previously served as a volunteer, member of the Board of Directors, and then as the Director of Emergency Services for the Santa Barbara County chapter of the Red Cross, where he was actively involved in several large disaster responses. He graduated from the University of California , Santa Barbara with a PhD in communication where his research focused on mass-media persuasion in the context of disaster relief, counter-terrorism, and law-enforcement. Paul has also written for academic and professional publications on issues such as cyber-crime, law-enforcement, and transnational threats. Paul was born in Zimbabwe , raised in England , and served as a police constable with London ’s Metropolitan Police Service before he came to the United States .
