Reita Faramay, Editor in chef of Rich Woman Digital Magazine talks with Mona Liam.
MONA LIEM is an Indonesian Artpreneur and Curator based in Switzerland. Since obtaining a master’s degree in Curating at the Zurich University of Arts in 2016, She has focused on art research projects, managing international artists, conceptualizing and curating a variety of exhibitions in South East Asia and Europe. As well as working as a freelance journalist for art magazines in Asia.
She is fascinated by New Media Art, Identity and Technology in a curatorial sense. In 2018, she was one of the international Jurors of APEXART New York City, Contemporary Art Exhibition and International Judge of CYNETART, International Festival for Computer Based Art, Dresden Germany.In 2019, she started MAG, a Media Art Globale Festival (www.mediaartglobale.com) as Artistic Director & Curator in Jakarta, Indonesia. MAG serves as a platform for artists and researchers, for scientists and technologists from all over the world to produce and exhibit cutting-edge artworks. Through its main theme "TransHuman Code" MAG presents artworks that reflect the trends in New media Art including works in coding and symbolism, bio art, virtual and augmented reality also artificial intelligence, social media and the digital life of the millennial generation in the society or community.
At the 40th year Ars Electronica Festival in Linz Austria, she was invited to do a presentation at Talk: Ars Electronica partner network. Her presentation about “Media Art Globale 2019, A new corridor in Indonesia`s media art development. Shift movement caused by Social Media Behaviour".In the same year, she works as Curator and Artistic Director for international company and organised one of biggest art technology and music festival in Indonesia: Wave of Tomorrow that present international and lndonesia`s artists.In 2020, during the pandemic she still has opportunities to produce 2 international online art technology festivals.
In 2021, she was invited again as the partner of Ars Electronica Festival and created a hybrid art technology festival that elaborate heritage and Indonesia`s nature.She is the founder of Connected Art Platform (CAP) that focuses on contemporary & media art from Europe-Asia. She is also the founder Roemah Indonesia that focuses to promote and respect the heritage of Indonesia`s culture in Europe.
