On the Wings of Eagles continues the saga of Wisconsin farm boy Otto Kerchner as he, his sister Mata, and the community of Pioneer Lake make their way in the brave new world of post-World War II America. This sequel to On Wings of the Morning (which details Otto's service as a B-17 pilot, a fiery crash landing, and his long recovery from physical and psychological wounds), recreates a simpler world in which family and community played a vital role.
Picking up in May of 1946, listeners will witness a new chapter in Otto's adventure as he starts up an airline, experiences a wedding, witnesses another fiery crash, commands a bomber squadron in the Korean War, runs an air circus, and tries to come to terms with someone from his past - all in the space of a few short years.
On the Wings of Eagles features the warmth and rich characterization listeners of all ages enjoyed in the first book, and is sure to become a new favorite among the many fans of Otto, his friends, family, and their little town of Pioneer Lake. This second installment in the Beyond the Blue Horizon series will inspire and engage listeners from Young Adult on up.

A delightful second installment for Otto and company
Great second book in the series. I love Otto and this book continues his wonderful story. Where the first book is more action-driven and oriented on Otto himself, the 2nd book is much more of a drama series. The cast is expanded, and war is far less a specter than the 1st (no spoilers).
On the Wings of Eagles is a character-driven, enjoyable read. Verner's style is familiar, and readers will feel themselves flying alongside Otto and his crew after reading just a few pages. A wonderful read that touches every emotion available.
I really enjoyed reading Dan Verners latest book
I really enjoyed reading Dan Verners latest book! After reading his first book, On the Wings of the Morning, I was eager to read his second book about Otto Kerchner! It's a story about a young man's love of flying. I was easily drawn into the story and felt like a close observer of the life of Otto and his family, as well as his friends old and new. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
Going downhill
The first book started an interesting chronology of the life of a WWII aviator and his family. This book continues the series but is riddled with annoying cliches, poems, and technical errors. For example, an unpressurized DC3 could not operate at 30,000 ft.
Keep them coming!
This second book in the series was a fast paced read. The personalities of the characters are greatly developed from book 1. This makes the reader even more anxious to have the author complete book three of the series.
Five Stars
What a wonderful story. Volume 2 continues in the, same vein as the first.
