The close-up kiss popularized by Hollywood cinema hasn't always been the glamorous postcard it has become. Deemed immoral in the 1920s - at the height of the Hays Code - it's now questioned for its very virile representation, that of a man overlooking a woman's face, tense in dreamy passivity.
