Warhammer 40000, a tabletop wargame featuring armies of small plastic soldiers built and painted by the players, fighting grand battles using dice and tape measures, has a rich lore featuring decades of collaborative creativity, but the company behind it, Games Workshop, is currently engaging in a range of questionable practices as it attempts to grow this flagship franchise. At the time this was made I was very annoyed with a lot of things happening with Warhammer, which I had only just rediscovered a passion for, which was bothering me at a time when my own mental health was struggling, and so I wanted to discuss it, while also exploring the rich lore of a franchise I love.
Fortunately Warhammer and Games Workshop seem to have learned their lessons and as we approach the release of the 10th Edition of 40K things seem to be looking up, and I'm excited about it again, and I hope that lasts.
