Publisher's Summary:
What if a woman, tired of broken hearts and bad choices, traveled a thousand miles to the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, and spent a night forgetting her past in the blues clubs of Beale Street? What if a man who lost his wife to cancer ventured to Beale Streets social scene for the first time in over a year? And what if they met and realized love was still possible for them both? Dakota James and Ethan Meriweather have both given up on finding happiness in a relationship. When they meet in downtown Memphis, at a crowded nightclub, neither has romance on the brain. But as the evening unfolds, and small talk turns to the stuff of hopes, dreams, and shared loss, a kinship grows that surprises them. Before the night is over, though, Dakotas past will catch up with her in the form of a violent ex-boyfriend. As dawn approaches, and tragedy threatens to tear Dakota and Ethan apart, both will have to make a decision that could change their lives forever. Is new love worth putting your life on the line for someone youve just met?

Disappointed
I started listening to this book with high hopes. I liked the plot and having grown up in Memphis (and go back to Beale St and Mud Island for a mini-vacation every July), I was excited to read about some of the local atmosphere. I thought the book was good right up until Dakota arrived in Memphis. First, I wasn't impressed with this narrator. Instead of the Tennessee southern accent, the characters just sounded lacking in intelligence. I wasn't impressed with the New Hampshire accent either. For the second criticism, it concerns Dakota at the 3 a.m. Beale St scene. You might call this a SPOILER so reader beware!!
There is a crisis and when Dakota goes for help all she can do is yell "help" to someone 3 blocks away, look for her missing purse, and then sit down and cry? Really? How about screaming at the top of her lungs for a minute or two. Then when the police do arrive, tell them what's going on in the alley right away instead of going into a long story.
Basically, this book started out at 5 stars and then one star was subtracted for narration and another star was subtracted for the stupidity of the main character. But for a $2.95 book, it wasn't bad.
Don't Bother!
Most audio books I really enjoy, (unless the narrator is awful) but this book was terrible! I would not recommend it!
A Few Hours Til Love!
This story was better than I expected. Dakota was a resilient heroine, determined to make changes in her life, to stop making the same mistakes with regards to men. She kicks out her married lover, rids her apartment of everything to do with him, in the process she finds a flash drive attached to her computer, thinking it might be important to him, (he is the chief of police) she drops it in her purse and hops a plane to Memphis. Meanwhile back in New Hampshire the Chief gets a phone call and realizes he needs the flash drive, he finally remembers where he left it and the chase is on. This was a very good story, short but interesting. Worth a read.
Narrator Boring
Could not get through the first chapter of this book. Narrator was terrible! I was looking forward to an interesting story. But it was not to be.
