As I already mentioned above, part of what we will be looking at this Sunday in Mark 14:12-31 is where Jesus institutes the Lord’s Supper with his disciples. We will also see the same theme of devotion vs. denial from last week as Jesus warns Peter that he will deny him three times…which he does. This reminds us not only of Peter’s frailty, but also of our own. More importantly, it points us to Jesus who, though we stumble and fail, remains faithful, is in control, and has unconditional love for us. Keeping this truth at the forefront of our minds will draw us to trust him for salvation and through our daily lives.

When I trust Christ’s sacrifice, I will…
…follow his sovereign leading (v. 12-16)
WHEN I ACKNOWLEDGE THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD…
1) …it draws me to want him more.
2) …it propels me to depend on him every day.
3) …it compels me to obey him in everything.
…confront the evil of my own heart (v. 17-21)
Our culture tells us that the problem is outside us and the solution is inside us. The gospel tells us that the problem is inside us and the solution is outside us.

John 3:17-18
…receive the grace of his new covenant (v. 22-25)
…cling to his faithfulness when I fall (v. 26-31)
