On EPISODE 10 of One-on-One with Andro Mammo, Bradley Steven Perry, formerly of Disney Channel's "Good Luck Charlie" discusses the journey that's led him to where he is right now! Touching on his upbringing, acting, Good Luck Charlie, and what he's up to these days.
At the early of 5 years-old, Bradley Steven Perry already knew what he wanted to do with his life… become an actor.
Drawn to comics like Adam Sandler and Dane Cook, Bradley was always intrigued by the idea of making someone laugh. Throughout childhood, Bradley was always cracking jokes trying his best to make others laugh. Whether he was on the baseball field, sitting at the dinner table, or even at auditions - he was always cracking jokes, in hopes getting to feel like the comics he looked up to.
Looking up to comedy greats, Bradley made the realization that he wanted to become an actor, just like many he watched. By age 9, he was actively auditioning and booked a few smaller gigs. A lot of his early career consisted of smaller commercials and photo shoots - though not the greatest exposure, Bradley still loved being in the spotlight and continued to pursue his acting goals.
At age 10, Bradley landed the role of Gabe Duncan on the Disney Channel hit show, “Good Luck Charlie”.
Good Luck Charlie was a prominent part of Bradley’s life as the series went on for four years, totaling 100 episodes… which is something you don’t see very often!
After Good Luck Charlie, Bradley continued to act here and there… but found himself at a crossroads in life.
Does he continue acting full time? Which means constant auditioning, unpredictability, and just a constant non-stop uphill battle.. or Does he choose to take a more “traditional” route and go to college. Due to his acting and crazy schedule as a kid, Bradley didn’t get to experience a “normal” childhood. He didn’t go to a public school with other kids his age, he missed high school - and though, he was living the dream on a Disney TV show, Bradley always wished he could experience more “normal” activities. Going to college would allow him to experience exactly that.
Bradley made his decision and decided to go to USC to pursue a degree in film.
Looking back, Bradley says that going to college was “ the best decision” he’s ever made. The experiences he lacked due to his childhood, he quickly experienced on the campus of USC. Bradley said the first few weeks with all the adjustments was tough, but embraced this new life. He says college allowed him to switch perspectives and looks back on his college years as some of the best years of his life. He graduated from USC, majoring in film.
These days, Bradley has a Youtube channel where he cooks, showing off his great culinary skills. He got bored of eating the same chicken and rice every day, forcing him into the kitchen concocting dishes he didn’t even know he could make. Cooking has turned out to be one of his greatest passions. Not only that - Bradley co-hosts “the Sit and Chat” podcast alongside actor, Jake Short.
The two met while co-starring with each other on their Disney show, “Mighty Med”. The bond on set evolved into an instant lifelong friendship. On their podcast, they just talk about life while joined by friends they've made throughout the years in the industry. Very fun listen!
