How can we believe in a good God when the world is filled with so much suffering and injustice? It's easy to look at the brokenness around us and wonder where God is, or believe that somehow we can fix what's wrong with the world. But Ecclesiastes confronts us with a difficult truth: the problem isn't just the evil around us, it's the sin within us. Our hearts are often driven by envy, comparison, and the pursuit of things that will never satisfy. Yet God has not left us without hope. Through Jesus, we find a Savior who understands our suffering, a righteous Judge who will make all things right, and the only treasure that can truly quiet our souls. When Christ becomes our greatest treasure, He frees us from striving for what others have and empowers us to genuinely love the people around us. The answer to a broken world begins with hearts transformed by Jesus.

What does it mean to understand the time we’re living in? We live in a world of changing seasons, unexpected suffering, and circumstances beyond our control, yet we often look to this temporary life for lasting security and satisfaction. Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that there is a time for everything, but we were never meant to find our ultimate hope in anything this temporary world offers. God has placed eternity in our hearts, and nothing under the sun can satisfy what only Jesus can fulfill. We may not understand every season, but we can trust the God who holds them all. True wisdom is found in surrendering control, trusting our good Father, and learning to live with joy in the present while anchoring our hope in eternity.

Why is happiness so hard to find? We convince ourselves we’re just one thing away—a better job, a bigger paycheck, a relationship, or more possessions. But what happens when you finally get everything you wanted and still feel empty? In Ecclesiastes, Solomon exposes the empty promises of a world that cannot satisfy the deepest longings of the human heart. We were never meant to find lasting happiness in temporary things. The good gifts of this life were never meant to be our destination, but signposts pointing us to the Giver. Stop striving to make this world give you what only God can provide. True satisfaction isn’t found in having everything you want, but in knowing the One who has already given us everything we need in Jesus.

Why does life so often leave us wanting more? We chase success, comfort, experiences, relationships, and control, hoping something in this life will finally quiet the ache within us. Ecclesiastes confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: everything “under the sun” is hebel—fleeting, elusive, and unable to carry the weight of our ultimate hope. We were never meant to find eternal satisfaction in temporary things. The frustration we feel with this broken world is a reminder that we were made for something beyond it. Jesus is coming, and this present age will not last forever. Until then, wisdom means receiving this life as a gift without asking it to be our god—living with gratitude today while anchoring our hope in the age to come.

What does God require of me? What is truly good for me? And what is my responsibility to others? Jesus answers these life-defining questions with a call that challenges everything our culture tells us: the good life is found in giving your life away. Following Jesus isn't about pursuing our own comfort or simply growing in our own faith. It's about sacrificially loving others, even when it comes at a significant personal cost. Every follower of Jesus is called to make disciples, investing their lives so others can know and follow Him. God didn't save you just to fill you. He saved you and filled you so you could pour into others. The question is, are you willing to sacrifice your comfort so someone else can experience the life-changing love of Jesus?

Who is walking beside you as you follow Jesus? We were never meant to follow Him alone. God designed the local church to give us more than a crowd to worship with, He gives us people to walk with. And the people closest to us will inevitably shape who we become: “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise” (Proverbs 13:20). We need Christ-centered friendships with brothers and sisters who know us, sharpen us, encourage us, and are willing to labor for Christ to be formed in us. Those friendships can’t be forced, but they can be discovered as we faithfully share life with others over time. Find your people, open your life, and pursue Jesus alongside friends who are becoming more like Him, and helping you do the same.

Who are you following as you follow Jesus? Christianity was never meant to be lived in isolation. You came to faith because someone kept the chain of discipleship going, passing the gospel from one person to the next until it reached you. Now you are part of that chain. God uses people ahead of us to offer wisdom, expose our blind spots, and show us what faithful obedience looks like. Spiritual growth requires the humility to admit we don’t know it all, laying down our pride, and learning from those God has placed ahead of us.

Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo pursuit. We were created to know God and to be deeply connected to His people, working together to fulfill the mission He has given us. The Great Commission defines what we do, and the Great Commandment shapes how we do it: loving God and loving one another. Healthy, authentic relationships aren’t optional to the life of the church; they are how the body of Christ grows strong and moves together. We have a big job to do, and we were never meant to do it alone.
