In this episode I cover a recent news report of a death during "cold water therapy" in the United Kingdom. Cold exposure is currently dramatically overhyped online, and misinformation on the topic is rampant among the top health influencers. This misinformation misrepresented the balance of harms and risks from cold exposure therapy, undermined this woman's ability to rationally judge whether the intervention might produce more benefit than harm (or vice versa), undermined her decisionmaking autonomy, and ultimately resulted in her death.
