Chris Bintliff joins Chris Badgett on this episode of the LMScast podcast to discuss how online course marketing and sales is not really rocket science. Chris Bintliff is a consultant that works in companies rather than for companies. He shares useful mindsets to utilize when approaching marketing and selling courses in order to speak to the customer where they are.
“Little hinges swing big doors.” Chris Badgett shares some insights he has learned when tweaking the dials and challenging fundamental assumptions in marketing and business. Bringing strategy rather than just acting as a button-pusher is key to delivering your client’s true results as a consultant.
Many companies use a lot of I-focused statements that describe the business itself. This phrasing creates a cognitive load for your audience, which means they have to figure out why your message matters to them. If you can start with the customer and work backwards in your marketing it will help you communicate the problem and pain you are trying to solve more effectively.
By focusing your marketing message on the customer rather than who you are, you change the mood of the sales conversation. Chris Bintliff explains the CARE framework he uses to classify his prospect funnel and means of lead generation:
C - Clueless, but curious customer.
A - Attentive prospects willing to give their email in exchange for a PDF or guide.
R - Responsive or ready prospects are willing to spend time in a webinar or consultation.
E - Engaged customers who are willing to give their experience in the form of a testimonial or case study for you to bring to the top of your funnel.
