Resources to help parents know how to talk about racism
  • National Museum of African American History and Culture has a section “Talking About Race.” Be sure not to miss the videos on implicit bias in the “Being Antiracist” topic.
  • NY Times book list for kids
  • Coretta Scott King Book Award winners
  • Movies – Akeelah and the Bee
  • Younger children – CNN/Sesame Street town hall on racism
  • Instagram to follow – Kamri Phillippi (kamphoxy)
    • Resources to teach about Black History in the USA
    • Sit-in at Woolworth store lunch counter in Greensboro NC – video reenactment and teacher notes with questions
    • Ted-Ed videos on famous black Americans eg. Benjamin Banneker, Ida B Wells
    • Harlem Renaissance digital breakout
    • MLK Comic book from his time period
    • Negro Travelers Green book from 1956
    • Readings from Slave Narratives done by actors (not suitable for younger children). The documentary is called “Unchained Memories”.
    • Disney movie Ruby Bridges about the first black student to attend an integrated school in New Orleans in 1960
