With the development of information and communication technology, new investigative techniques and types of evidence have emerged, which may lead to more efficient, less resource-intensive investigations. This could help the ICC overcome challenges such as a lack of state support, security concerns, and capacity. This growing reliance on open source material in international criminal justice, however, should not be viewed as a panacea for the Court's shortcomings. The Prosecutor faces various challenges while conducting open source investigations, prompting increased collaboration with NGOs.
