At the end of World War II, Nazi scientists were fleeing to different countries to avoid jail or death. The United States found the plans the Nazis had for future weapons, and thought "We could use that."

Operation Paperclip was the name for the coverup of moving Nazi scientists to the US, making them citizens, and then putting them in charge of scientific advancement in our own country.
