Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) is able to deliver the atomic bomb to the US government, which is used later on to end the war. As the purpose is fulfilled, he advises the government to not indulge in any more bomb production. This offends the authority, and they try to demean Oppenheimer in public by branding him a communist. Years later, the same government, upon realising their mistake, honours him with an award.
