We are reminded that the Father sent the Son, the Son sent the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit now empowers God's people to bear witness of Jesus Christ. The message teaches us from John 15 and Revelation 19 that the testimony of Jesus is central to God's eternal plan, from prophecy to the final reign of Christ, and that we have been included in that plan as witnesses in this present age. We are shown that true gospel work is not carried out by human ability, personality, or religious performance, but by the truth of God's Word empowered by the Spirit of God. The sermon calls us to examine how much we truly labor to testify of Christ, to follow the Spirit's leading, to care about souls, and to use our time, money, words, and opportunities to make Jesus known before the age of grace comes to an end.
