In this episode, I speak with concussion specialist Melissa Biscardi about all things brain health and concussion recovery. She busts common myths and shares the latest evidence-based research around how to optimize recovery post-concussion.
About Melissa:
Melissa Biscardi is a registered nurse, and osteopathic therapist focusing on concussion rehabilitation, long-covid and brain optimization. Melissa maintains a private practice in Toronto, and virtually, for busy go-getters aiming to reclaim their brain health. She also acts as a mentor to clinicians teaching workshops and through her Concussion mentorship program and workshops. Melissa focuses on brain rehabilitation from a functional perspective- that is getting things working better without the use of medications. Melissa is massively passionate about providing patients with effective, evidenced based and personalized care. She has published numerous research articles and three book chapters covering different aspects of brain health including concussion, dementia, injury prevention and aging with brain injury. She completed a Master of Science focusing on women's hormones post concussion and she is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of Toronto focusing on interventions for adults with concussion. As a speaker, Melissa loves to share her knowledge and is the current host of the Brainiac podcast.
