In 2013, The Netflix series Orange Is The New Black entertained viewers with a dramatized adaptation of a women's prison. One of the characters the show follows is a Trans Person named Sophia played by Laverne Cox. The show tackles some of the topics of having a trans person in a women's prison. Fictions oftentimes mirror reality. In the state of California under Senate Bill 132, men who identify as women are now being housed in women's facilities, and there are beginning to have ramifications.
