Jesus didn’t call the twelve apostles because they had impressive résumés, perfect personalities, or spotless pasts. He called ordinary people—and before He sent them out to accomplish the mission, He invited them simply to be with Him.

In Episode 10 of Ordinary Faith, we discuss the difference between disciples and apostles, why Jesus’ call always comes before our response, and how God uses people with vastly different backgrounds, gifts, and personalities. We also explore the warning found in the life of Judas: it is possible to remain close to Christian activity without ever truly surrendering to Christ.

Before you try to do more for Jesus, slow down and spend time with Jesus. Busyness is not the same as godliness, and being around Christian things is not the same as trusting Him. You are not significant because of what you bring to the table—you are significant because Jesus created you, loves you, and has called you to Himself.
