Earl & Hilda Jones moved cross-country and chose the rolling hills of Southern Oregon to plant their favorite Spanish varietal Tempranillo. The name Abacela originates from the Latin word Abacelar, which means "to plant a grape vine". In doing so, Earl & Hilda put Tempranillo and Southern Oregon on the map for American wine consumers.
