In May of 1983, Diane Downs arrived at a hospital claiming her and her children were the victims of an attempted car jacking in which they had all been shot. Hospital workers and the police had their doubts about her story and she soon became suspect #1.

In January of 1994 Tyrom Theis along with two accomplices robbed the Leather's Oil Company in Gresham, Oregon and murdered the three employees in the process. After his accomplices confessed Theis disappeared and has not been seen since.
