In this Hamcast we’ll be honoring the late Oren Brand/K9KEJ, who became a silent key November 15, 2023. Oren was a ham whose voice was heard across the United States on Saturdays for decades on his Mike Jackson Outdoors radio show. You may not recognize his name or voice unless you lived in the greater Chicago area during the 1980s and later.
Over the next few minutes we’re going to let you hear two readings by him. The first is a tongue-in-cheek commentary he wrote and subsequently voiced in 1993 for the Radio Amateur Information Network. It was introduced by Larry Miglore/KB9DIP - (8 minutes).
Our second reading by Oren is A Ham’s Christmas, written some years back by the late Walter A. Tompkins/K6ATX - (5:00 minutes).
