Tune in and listen as Carter and fellow bird-lover chat about how to be successful in the competing world of ornithology! Growing up in Michigan, chipper Dr. Perkins was always interested in wildlife and the outdoors. As an undergraduate, she spent a summer as an intern at Seney National Wildlife Refuge (in Michigan's Upper Peninsula) and developed a love for birds and wetlands. These interests have been the driving force behind Marie's career path. Dr. Perkins calls herself a broadly trained wildlife ecologist interested in conservation biology, wetland ecology, ornithology, toxicology, and environmental health.
