 Part 1

Start - Ash arrives and starts a warmup by singing We Shall Overcome, followed by an African song, and more standard warmups.

18:41 - Here I Stand - Ash played a recording of last year's concert, starting with Movement 1, discussing it for markings and dynamics.  

30:27 - Ash stopped the recording and asked us to discuss the movement 1 recording, then compared our opinions with what he thought we needed to improve.

34:30 - We rehearsed movement 1 from letter G, measure 77, later going back to rehearse earlier sections.

58:45 - Ash announced the recording of movement 2, but only the first part that we sing.

1:02:08 - We start singing the entry of movement 2, measure 194.   Emphasis on diction.

Parts of this rehearsal were sectionals which were not recorded.  The main room was always Ash working with some or all of the chorus.

Start - warmup

16:53    Sometimes I Cry - Ash gave us a recording of the piece to listen to.  He had us change some of the markings that he'd given us, then sing bits of the piece.  The recording didn't record very well on the podcast but Ash said he'd post it on Chorus Connection.

28:35    Movement 4 of Here I Stand, with Ash singing the solo part

36:51    Ash asked us to sit and listen while he talked "from the heart" about the current situation in the country, for about 10 minutes.

Since Ash was still interviewing people for the summer concert, Sarah King (soprano) took over an early warmup session.  The recording starts in the middle of that.  

6:26     Ash became available and announced that everyone who auditioned for the Boccelli concert has been chosen to perform.

8:41    Ash began a warmup session, including how to form vowels and consonants.

13:35    Sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow on lyrics, then using solfege.  Sang more solfege, beginning with major scales in solfege, with hand gestures.  Also talks on choral techniques and intonation.

25:48    Ash sang a tune in solfege and asked us to follow him; he says we must memorize it by his birthday.

34:28    Here I Stand, movement 3. At the end of the session (1:09.43) we ran the whole movement.
