In 2018, RTE (the power transmission system operator in France) decided to embrace open source to increase the efficiency and innovation of core-business software projects. Learning from other industries, it became soon obvious that this strategy would require a more structured approach for open source activities, i.e. an OSPO.
This presentation will outline the organization and missions of RTE’s OSPO, its role in community building and in the transformation of internal software activities (development practices, culture, procurement). It will also discuss the approach and challenges in the implementation of compliance processes as well as next topics of focus.
