She didn’t just “get cancer” out of the blue. When I was little, I remember she was afraid to do certain things, drive on the highway for example. Small things turned into bigger manifestations of anxiety as she got older. She had panic attacks, but my parents didn’t really tell me too much about this. They played it off. In midlife, she started acting strangely. Soon, she was unable to get up and do the things she normally did, like make meals, get herself dressed at a reasonable hour, go to work. There were other signs like paranoia and dissociated thoughts and we realized she needed help. She finally agreed to go to an inpatient mental health clinic and she was diagnosed with depression. But even this didn’t come out of the blue. You see, my mom was an orphan. She held inside deep childhood trauma, wounds I know nothing about. She never spoke of her terrible experiences and as a result of pushing them so far down, they came roaring up with a vengeance, first as anxiety, then as depression and when she still did not deal with her old wounds, they festered and became a cancer. This is an experience I never want to witness anyone go through again. This is why I want to help people examine their stories NOW, way before old wounds small or big, work their way insidiously into bigger and more serious problems. This is why I am doing Blessons Lifework. I’m opening up my 12-week program this fall. If you are ready to figure out why you are the way you are, blast through your roadblocks, stimulate personal growth and heal from and prevent disease, then this program is meant for you.
