As per our ancient tradition, the first chapati is given to the cow and the last one is given to the dog. The cow is assumed as the guru and chandra form, so the guru is like blessing and chandra is happiness that's why the cow is very important . The dog is assumed as the gatekeeper, nowadays they are kept inside but according to our traditions, they was held at the doorstep because of his six sense and protection.
