Real Reading Talk

Our Black children are not inferior to no one!

Listen Later

In this episode I reference the book The Developmental Psychology of the Black child by Dr. Amos Wilson in which he talks about how advanced our Black babies are in comparison to white babies. However due to this cruel system of white supremacy that begins to change for our Black children at around the age of 3. This reference is extremely crucial to note because subconsciously due to the inferiority complex that Black people have bought into we tend to doubt our Black children's genius, and we don't prepare them adequately in all areas of life so that they can thrive in a system that has been set up to destroy them. In the second part of this episode I had the pleasure of talking to Hassannah Abdul-Wadood a brilliant and beautiful 16 year old about her reading experiences, advice on how to get our young people into reading and her book recommendations as well.

Hassannah's book recommendations:

Role of thunder, hear my cry by Mildred D. Taylor
