Maybe you’ve said the “Our Father” because you were told to — trying to avoid a few extra raps from the ruler. Maybe you whispered it like a lucky charm before the big test you definitely didn’t study for. Maybe the words hung beautifully framed on the mantle while your own father was out working late again. For some of us it’s tradition. For others it’s superstition. For others it’s complicated. Still — in spite of all our baggage — Jesus looks at His followers and tells them to start their prayers like this, “Our Father.”
This Sunday we begin a new series, preparing us for Easter, walking through the prayer Jesus taught us. Before the Our Father became routine, it was radical. Before it was recited, it was revolutionary. Whether this prayer feels familiar, forced, or fragile, come rediscover why these words were given — and why starting with “Our Father” might be better news than you ever realized.
Join us on Sunday at 9:30 am.
