Cultivating a first love means we must contend against a fear. Fear of being hurt from past experiences, fear of not being good enough, fear of punishment. We love to quote 1 John 4:18 - perfect/completed love casts out fear! But this verse is the final time John uses the phrase "Perfect Love" in which he mentions it 4 times.  John is wanting to take us on a journey of what perfect/completed love looks like and it is more than just a declaration of truth, it is a demonstration through our lives.
