Pointing to Jesus as our Example:
Our Lord’s Prayer Life—text influenced by Ern Baxter

1.       Jesus is our example. 1 Peter 2:21-leaving us an “example” and Phil 2:8 “obedient” following Jesus produces a lifestyle change of constant communion with God that’s obedient and we won’t be getting into a lot of trouble.  Philippians 2:8

2.       His Prayer lifestyle had priority over His social life. “After dismissing the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. Well into the night, he was there alone.” Matthew 14.23

3.       His Prayer lifestyle had priority over physical rest. “After dismissing the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. Well into the night, he was there alone.” Matthew 14:23, Luke 6:12,  Mark 1:35.

4.       His Prayer lifestyle had priority over His appetite. John 4:34  

5.       His Prayer lifestyle had priority over His suffering. “And being in agony He was praying very fervently, and His sweat became like drops of blood,” Luke 22:44, Heb 5:7  John 11: 33, 35,  Matthew 23:37

6.       His Prayer lifestyle had priority over His enjoyment.  Luke 10:21 

7.       His Prayer lifestyle had priority over popularity. Matt 14:23. But the news about Jesus spread all the more, and great crowds came to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. Yet He frequently withdrew to the wilderness to pray.” Luke 6:15, 16 “Then Jesus, realizing that they were about to come and make Him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by Himself”-John 6:15

8.       His Prayer lifestyle had priority over unpopularity. Luke 6:11, 12.

9.       His Prayer lifestyle had priority when making decisions. Luke 6:12, 13
