We almost can’t believe this day has finally arrived, but it’s here. Let’s pop some bubbly 🥂 and start tooting those party horns 🎉 because today is the day that we tie a bow on this mini-series all about our current top five favorite films!

This one has been a long time coming. While it’s only been a month and change since the first episode showed up in your podcast player, we actually started recording this series all the way back in January 2020. Now it’s August 2020. August! We’ve loved every moment of sharing these amazing films with you and are looking forward to closing things out with our final two.

To start things off in this wrap-up episode, we’ve got the tense, gritty, expansive 2007 thriller from the amazing David Fincher, Zodiac. This film was based on the very real and tragic serial killings that took place during the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. These killings that took place primarily up in the Bay Area of California gripped the nation and the film that was made about them kept us completely rapt. This one was one of Sean’s suggestions and he’s thrilled to share it with everyone. The cast is amazing, the sound work is top-notch, and the cinematography will astound you.

To wrap up this wrap-up episode, we’ve got Steven coming in hot with one of his choices: the affecting and lovely rom-com, travel, family, drama (all the adjectives!) from 2005, Elizabethtown, directed by Cameron Crowe. Orlando Bloom starred in this one when he was hot off his turns in the one-two knockout pairing of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the first Pirates of the Caribbean. He’s joined by the always lovely Kirsten Dunst as the woman who gives him a good shaking back into reality. Like all Cameron Crowe movies, you can expect this one to make you feel some intense feelings. Get the tissues ready!

While Zodiac and Elizabethtown are about as far apart thematically as two films can get, they’re both strong examples of filmmakers at the top of their respective games. They knock it out of the park with these ones. Give ‘em a watch. You won’t be disappointed. We can just about guarantee that.
