You're wandering down an alley on the way home from the pub, the gentle evening rain is falling down your neck, but the warmth of good company and generous drinking keeps you smiling. The taxi waits at the corner, headlights cutting through the haze forming. The driver looks as if to say "Are you Steve?". You are in fact Steve. But wait. Another has recognised you. You hear the cheap audio production of someone thought lost to the past. You turn your head to the source of a sincere, yet manic, greeting. It's the Out Of Our Depth Podcast... A cold chill works down every inch of your back, you sprint for the car door. "DRIVE!" you scream at the confused impromptu getaway driver. But, it's too late. We're in your ears. "Podcasting never dies!"
We hope you enjoy.
This week sees Matt and Liam attempt football commentary as well as the usual F1 chinwag, which leads to some questionable music recommendations. And then a dive into a meaty topic around individual and global resource usage and wastage. Definitely out of our depth, but hopefully worth a listen. Enjoy!
On this week's episode: Liam playing golf badly, Matt drinking beer, angry men who think they own the world, the controversial Jeremy Clarkson, millionaires crashing their cars and (hopefully) improved audio. Enjoy.
In this week's episode: Matt and Liam have a love-in with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, because why not? Then pick out some life advice from Beau Miles' book 'The Backyard Adventurer' and Chloé Zhao's film 'Nomadland'. The podcast music playlist becomes ever weirder. And we go through some bizarre science to top it all off.
The pod awakens. Liam has a new car and Matt has less of a car (very emotional). The regular music recommendations return, with a new Spotify playlist as their home (Out Of Our Depth: Music From The Pod). Liam tears into Zack Snyder's "Army Of The Dead". And of course, we go over the latest from the world of F1.
The final episode of Season 1, but we will be back! We discuss if Aston Martin signing Hulkenberg as reserve puts Vettel under pressure. We have a good old moan about the Jeep Magneto and how EV offroaders are a bit naff. Then we try and find a way of watching golf that isn't boring. Hopefully you've enjoyed our first season and join us again in a few weeks. Until then, go try something out of your depth.
Is anyone else tired of April Fools' Day? Matt and Liam go through some of the trash we found on Apil 1st. Ben Howard's latest ablum is questioned in our music segment. Liam has a great recommendation for those of you who are into weird cartoons, Justin Roiland's 'Solar Opposites'. And Matt talks us through his impromptu rescue service of a Mini far from its natural habitat.
A day late, but sounding great! Swap Sunday for Monday, morning for evening, and crucially coffee for wine. A tipsy Matt and Liam cover off the F1 season opener at Bahrain. They just about navigate their way through music recommendations. Before moving on to the latest season of Top Gear and how it doesn't quite hit the spot anymore. And finally some chaotic talk about Baseball and the film 'Moneyball'. Let us know if alcohol or caffeine provides the better podcasting drug.
Drive to Survive review, F1 testing, insurance and performance cars
The rule of three, have we peaked (insert ominous music)? This week we try to make F1 testing interesting if that's possible. Matt surprises Liam with some space talk and Apple TV show 'For All Mankind'. Job applications and final year of university struggles are on our minds. We're deep(ish) and approachable, enjoy.
