excellent condition and delivery far ahead of set time. A typical Norah Lofts' where historical facts merge with fictional characters coming alive for the reader

I can't read it. The print is too small.

Disappointing

I was dismayed that this novel showed Norah Lofts to be condescending and racist. She clearly labels any person of color as inferior and her descriptions of anyone who isn't white are horrible and insulting. It could be a sign of the times when she wrote it, but she's not as educated a person as I thought she was.

Even without that problem, the main character of the novel is hoity toity and boring. It was a struggle to read this.
