Attention will focus on the restrictive trade practices provisions of the Trade Practices Act 1974 and their theoretical underpinnings. In particular, it will examine the following topics: the common law doctrine of restraint of trade; the scheme of the Trade Practices Act; trade practices economics; price fixing; anti-competitive arrangements; primary boycotts; exclusive dealing; misuse of market power; resale price maintenance and mergers.
