We read the second half of Colossians and track how Paul moves from big gospel truths to everyday choices about desires, words, relationships, work, and prayer. We also slow down on what “be devoted to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving” can look like, then we end by praying for spiritual maturity and confidence in God’s will.
• Colossians as a letter to a church Paul has not visited
• dying to worldly rules that look wise but do not change the heart
• setting our minds on things above because our life is hidden with Christ
• putting to death sin and putting off anger, slander, and lying
• clothing ourselves with mercy, kindness, humility, patience, forgiveness, and love
• letting Christ’s peace rule and letting God’s word dwell richly
• living out faith in marriage, parenting, and work with integrity
• being devoted to prayer, staying alert, and practicing thanksgiving
• learning intercessory prayer from Epaphras who wrestles for others’ maturity
• reading Scripture out loud and asking what jumps out as a prompt to listen closely
