Imagine going to the doctor for anxiety…

In the 1940s and 50s, this wasn’t a horror movie plot. It was a medical procedure performed tens of thousands of times across the United States, often on women, children, and people who were simply considered “difficult.”
Rosemary Kennedy, president john f. Kennedys sister, had this procedure done on her to fix her mood swings and ended up permanently disabled. She was then left to rot in an institution for the rest of her life.
