Over Long Term, Yoga Trumps Usual Care for Improving Back Function

Back pain is one of the most common reasons for missed work and the second most common reason for visits to the doctor's office1. A study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine finds that for those who suffer from repeated or chronic bouts of low back pain yoga was more effective than standard care in improving back function. Patients also found improved confidence in performing normal activities at both six and nine months signaling long-term benefits from yoga exercise.
