Overcome Comparison | Jealousy, Criticizing Others, Envy

Listen Later

Not many people will confess that they have or are struggling with comparison. Comparing and competing cause separation within the body of Christ, where we should instead be building ourselves up together in love (Eph.4:6). Today's episode explains how you can overcome comparison and turn away from it for good.

Verses Mentioned:
Ephesians 1:22-23 - "22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
1corinthians 12:21- "21The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
Ephesians 4:6, “when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
John 3:23-30- “John replied, “A person can receive only what is given to them from heaven. 28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’ 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. 30 He must become greater; I must become less.”
Psalm 139:13-14- “For You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”
