This week we come to the words of Jesus that mark the end of the Beatitudes at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:10-12)

Jesus says when evil comes, when people mistreat you or are mean to you, you can be blessed if you’re living in the kingdom of heaven.

This week we work to understand and live out this remarkable teaching of Jesus.

Next Steps

I will not judge others because I don’t know their story.

I will not be afraid when evil comes my way.

I will live like God is as close as the air I breathe.

I will not pay back evil for evil.

I will overcome evil with good.
