"Overcoming the Odds", with Paralympic Gold Medalist Al Mead

Listen Later

Join us for an inspiring interview with Pastor Al Mead. Pastor Mead is the first Paralympian to be inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. A trailblazer, Mead set records in the Long Jump, 100 and 200 meters.

Inducted in 2007, Pastor Mead is also a member of both the U.S. Amputee Athletic Association and Morehouse College Halls of Fame. He won a Gold Medal while setting the record in the Long Jump (14 ft, 9 in) at the 1988 Seoul Paralympic Games.

Pastor Mead shares with us how a childhood tragedy threatened to derail his athletic dreams when the inspired words of a neighbor ignited a spirit in him to turn his "disability" into the "ability to succeed".
