ch. 1: New Orleans update
Parts of Louisiana remain cut off this morning, without communication and without help and more than a million people are still without power and likely will be for weeks.
Hurricane Ida did everything it was advertised to do as a category 4 hurricane, causing torrential rain, mass flooding and winds that ripped the roofs off homes and businesses.
To make matters even more difficult there’s now a heat advisory in place as well.

It’s National Overdose Awareness Day and with BC in its 6th year of the ongoing public health emergency and 2021 on track for it’s worst year yet the Moms Stop the Harm organization will be joining emergency health services later today for an update regarding substance abuse related harms.

With mask mandates back for public spaces and vaccine mandates to attend certain events looming, event planners are scrambling to find a way to both accommodate guests while still following public health guidelines. With the election race heating up around the country, Jugmeet Singh is campaigning again here in BC today. Yesterday he spoke about making sure the ultra rich pay their fair share, ending tax havens and closing loopholes. Today he’ll be making stops in Coquitlam and Burnaby and is set to make a housing announcement later this morning.
