All Saints' Day: Grieving with Hope

What do we do with grief when we believe in the resurrection? In this message, we close out our year-long theme of "Remember" by observing All Saints Day, a tradition Christians have kept for centuries to remember those who have died in Christ and to celebrate the hope we share with them.

We look at where All Saints' Day came from: early believers gathered every year on the anniversary of a martyr's death to share stories, pray, worship, and share a meal, refusing to let death have the final word. We also take on some of the hardest questions grief raises. Why do terrible things happen to people who love God? If God is good, why does He allow suffering?

In this message:

• Why Christians still grieve, but not "like the rest of mankind, who have no hope" (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14)

• "Jesus wept": what Jesus' tears at Lazarus' tomb show us about the heart of God (John 11:35)

• Why sin, not God, gets the credit for death, and what Romans 8:28 really says (and doesn't)

• Why phrases like "God needed another angel" or "everything happens for a reason" can do more harm than good

• "Blessed are those who mourn": how God moves closer to grieving people (Matthew 5:4)

• Why great faith means bringing our tears, questions, and even anger to God, like Abraham, Job, and the Psalms do

• The "great cloud of witnesses" and what it means to be part of the communion of saints (Hebrews 12:1-3)

• The promise that one day God will wipe every tear from our eyes (Revelation 21:4)

Grief is one of the ways love responds to loss. Christianity doesn't take grief out of our lives, but it gives us reason to believe grief does not get the final word. If you're carrying loss of any kind, whether it's a loved one, a marriage, a diagnosis, or a dream, we pray this message reminds you that you are not alone and that you can grieve with hope.

What does it mean to pursue purity in a culture that often sends us a completely different message about sex, relationships, and identity?

In Week 5 of our It's Complicated series, we’re tackling The Purity Problem and exploring God’s design for sex, intimacy, and relationships. What are you building your life on?

In this message, “Building on the Right Foundation,” we look at Jesus’ parable of the wise and foolish builders in Matthew 7:24–29. Both builders heard the words of Jesus. Both faced the storm. But only one house stood firm.

The difference wasn’t the storm—it was the foundation.

Jesus calls us to do more than simply hear His words. He calls us to know Him, obey Him, spend time in His Word and prayer, and surround ourselves with godly community. When we build our lives on success, approval, possessions, relationships, comfort, or anything other than Christ, we’re building on sand. But when Jesus becomes the foundation and cornerstone of our lives, we can stand firm through every storm.

The foundation you lay today determines the kind of house you have tomorrow.
